Biomimicry Evaluating Phase
Video: Innovating and Evaluating. SCAD students working in Lacoste, France, during spring of 2015, video by Daniel Cheon.
While there is a thorough evaluation required after the initial prototype has been developed, evaluation takes place throughout the entire process. During the final evaluation the prototype is assessed against the 26 life principles that guide the Biomimicry design process. Additionally, we ask, once more, how nature would do it, or not do it, and investigate how the proposed innovation deviates from nature and how it might be improved. Most often, this step leads to backtracking and iterations of the design as the final product must meet the sustainability mandate of the Biomimicry framework.
